Change of Address for Tax Information - Research Grants

The purpose of this form is to allow Research Grant recipients to inform GSA of a new address to which their IRS Form 1099 should be sent between Jan. 1 - Feb. 28.

    Important Tax Information

    • GSA is required to issue IRS Form 1099 at the end of each calendar year according to rules set by the IRS. Issuance of a 1099 does not necessarily mean the income is taxable to the recipient. You need to make that determination, which may require professional advice. GSA cannot offer such advice. The 1099 will be mailed between Jan. 1 - Feb. 28 to the same address as your grant check. If you wish for your 1099 to be sent to a different address, please inform GSA no later than Dec. 1 by completing this form (preferred) or emailing researchgrants@geosociety.org. • In past years, several grant recipients did not provide GSA with their current address at the end of the year. As a result, some received their 1099 forms after the deadline to file taxes. Others never received their form. Please keep your address updated with GSA in order to receive this important information.
