AI @ WMU Book Discussion: Ethan Mollick’s Co-Intelligence: Living and Working with AI, Part II: AI as a Person?

Whether you were able to make the June 6th book club or not, please join us for a continued conversation of Dr. Ethan Mollick’s Co-Intelligence: Living and Working with AI. One of the most fascinating, yet unsettling aspects of Large Language Models such as Claude 3 or GPT 4 is that they have been trained to engage with human users in ways that mirror our own interactions with other humans. In addition to considering the various roles that Mollick predicts AI will or already is taking in society, we will consider the ethical implications of interacting and teaching with AI tools that are meant to make us believe we are dealing with another person. If you are part of the WMU community, you can access electronic or paper copies of the text through Waldo Library. You can also purchase the text at your favorite independent bookseller, such as this is a bookstore in Kalamazoo.

Sign up below with your institutional or professional email and share any questions you have in advance. Please just let us know to expect you so we can set a place for you at our virtual table. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, June 20th, 2024 from 12:00-1:00pm

Note: You will receive a reminder the day before the workshop with our meeting link.
