St. Clare Singers Youth Choir 2017-2018
St. Clare Singers is entering their Twelvth Year of Service through Song. Please consider enrolling your child in this wonderful ministry for a year filled with music and faith fundamentals, friendship, and fun!

Please fill this form out online and submit it to us before choir rehearsals begin. We look forward to working with our choir members again this school year. Family Mass Dates are listed below.

Who can join?
Any child who is reading and in 1st-8th grade. We will teach them to sing. They need to be able to read, listen and follow directions. Details below..

1st Graders (should join if they are reading, enjoy music and have a willingness to learn and participate)- We had many first graders join us last year, and they did a great job. First graders will be welcome to join us at all rehearsals and we will evaluate how they are doing and pair them with an experienced choir member as a partner as they learn how to be in choir! Students attend rehearsals on Tuesdays after school and Friday mornings beginning at 7:30.

2nd – 8th Graders - students attend rehearsals on Tuesdays, 3:30pm-4:30 PM and participate on Fridays, 7:30 AM thru morning mass. These singers rehearse 2x’s a week in order to prepare special music which is sung at our Monthly Family masses and build vocal technique and musicianship skills as a group. If your student has a conflict on Tuesdays and can only participate Friday mornings, please make a note of that. While they will greatly benefit from the more in depth rehearsal, we still want them to have a chance to sing if they wish.

Middle School and High School Instrumentalists and Singers
If you are a high schooler who is looking for a music ministry, you have come to the right place. We are looking for experienced instrumentalists (guitar, bass, woodwind, strings, percussion, etc.) and vocalists to help out with our Sunday Masses. We would love to have you help out and be a part of our ministry.

What will you learn?
Students learn many styles of music, and develop their singing skills through the use of the Kodaly method to aid in sight reading and the recognition of staff notation. Your child will be instructed in healthy vocal production, intonation, pronunciation, and breath control. The songs we sing also reinforce the fundamentals of our faith!
Who are your teachers?
Mrs. Kelley Van Slooten is the director of St. Clare Singers. She is in her eleventh year of leading this group and has over 20 years of voice teaching experience. She has also had many years of classroom teaching experience in Theater and Music from elementary school through college level.

Mrs. Paula Eamon is our St. Clare Singers accompanist. She is a wonderful composer and has been involved with Music Ministry at St. Clare and other churches for many years. Mrs. Eamon teaches Music at St. Clare School and piano lessons at her home.

Mrs. Shinn directs the choirs and bell choir at St. Clare and oversees our entire music ministry. Mrs. Shinn has been a music educator and choir director for many years and sings in the Grammy winning vocal ensemble Conspirare. We are blessed to have her at St. Clare.

We are very fortunate to have a wonderful team!
