The Symposium
The APEC Ghana Scientific Symposium is an annual gathering of scientists, healthcare professionals, and policymakers involved in the care of pregnant women. The goal of the symposium is to bring together experts in the field of hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy (HDP) from Ghana, the sub-region, and internationally to share ideas and new research, and engage in a discourse on the way forward in terms of the management of HDP to minimize adverse maternal and perinatal outcomes.
Theme
The theme for each symposium is determined by the current priorities in national and global maternal and newborn health discourse. Hence, the theme for the 2025 symposium is :
- "From Voices to Action : Bridging the Gap Between HDP Research, Policy and Clinical Practice to Improve Maternal and Newborn Health Outcomes"
This theme is inspired by the top ten (10) topics for future HDP research in Ghana identified by patients and their caregivers in 2024 during our priority setting project using the JLA Method for PSPs and Research for Health Justice Ethical Toolkit.
