New Lingua Proposal

Global Voices Lingua amplifies Global Voices stories in languages other than English with the help of an international community of volunteer translators. It opens the line of communication with non-English speaking bloggers and readers of Global Voices by translating content into other languages. Currently, we have Lingua sites in the following languages:

Albanian, Amharic, Arabic, Aymara, Bangla, Bulgarian, Burmese, Catalan, Chinese (Simplified/Traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, Esperanto, Farsi, Filipino, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Odia, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Kurdish, Macedonian, Malagasy, Odia, Pashto, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Tetun, Turkish, Urdu.

After the website is up and running, you would need at least one hour a day to keep it going. Sites with large communities demand more of Translation Managers!

Volunteer Translation Managers are in charge of overseeing the reviewing and publishing of translations, recruiting, community management, and regular communication with the Lingua team, as well as marketing the translations and the site.
