Sunnyridge Equestrian Barn Etiquette

At Sunnyridge, we strive to create a welcoming, inclusive environment where equestrian education and safety go hand in hand. Our barn culture is built around three guiding principles:

A Caring Community – for both horses and riders

Building Skills – in and out of the saddle

Inclusive Learning – for riders of all ages and abilities

To help us maintain a safe and supportive environment, we kindly ask that all visitors and riders follow these guidelines while at the farm:

Parents/Guardians: Please allow our staff to assist riders during grooming and tacking up. We encourage riders to build confidence and learn stable skills with support from our trained team. Comfortable viewing areas are available for you to relax during lessons.

Walk, don’t run in the barn, arena, and around horses to keep everyone safe.

Keep voices low so riders can clearly hear instructions from coaches and staff.

Ask questions! Whether you need help or want to learn something new, our team is here for you.

Use only the equipment assigned to your rider’s horse. This helps ensure proper fit and safety.

Always walk around the front of your horse when grooming or tacking to avoid startling them.

Tidy up your grooming area before bridling and again after your ride. Brooms, shovels, and buckets are available in each grooming stall.

Clean and return all tack and equipment neatly after use.

Closed-toe shoes are required in all barn and riding areas. Sandals and Crocs are not permitted for safety reasons.

Respect the farm, the animals, and each other. Kindness and care go a long way.

Cell phones away, please! Let’s stay present and focused in the barn- Parents and Riders

Treats for horses must be approved by staff. Please ask before offering any.

Thank you for helping us keep Sunnyridge a safe, respectful, and joyful space for all.

Sunnyridge Equestrian Lounge & Viewing Area Etiquette

At Sunnyridge, we’re proud to offer a welcoming and inclusive space where equestrian education, personal growth, and community come together. With safety and respect at the heart of everything we do, our program is guided by three core principles:

A Caring Community – for both horses and riders

Skill Building – in and out of the saddle

An Inclusive Learning Environment – for all participants

To help maintain a peaceful and safe space for everyone, please follow these viewing area guidelines:

Keep voices low so all riders and guests can enjoy a focused and enjoyable experience.

Cell phone use is limited to capturing photos of your own rider — please refrain from phone calls or video chats.

Please do not touch the viewing glass or kick the walls. This helps keep our facility clean and welcoming for all.

The lounge is shared with the Sunnyridge Wellness office — please remain on the lounge side and respect this quiet space.

Wait to exit the lounge until horses have cleared the stable entryway to ensure safety and flow.

Use the handrail when going up or down the stairs.

Children must be supervised at all times while in the lounge.

Kindly clean up after yourself and your family to help keep the space tidy and welcoming.

Thank you for helping us create a respectful and supportive environment at Sunnyridge. We’re glad you’re here!

Rider Release Waiver
This agreement must be accepted prior to participating in any horseback riding activities.

Assumption of Risks

As the legal guardian of a minor child participating in horseback riding activities, I acknowledge and accept the following:

Horses are powerful animals and may behave unpredictably at any time, including but not limited to jumping, bucking, running, kicking, biting, or stepping on people or objects—even when led, ridden, or handled appropriately.

Horses may stumble, trip, fall, or collide with other horses, people, or objects.

Equipment used in horseback riding may fail.

Weather conditions can change rapidly and may create hazardous situations.

The riding terrain may contain natural hazards such as rocks, trees, water features, and uneven ground, which may pose additional risks.

Some activities take place in remote areas where medical help may not be immediately available.

These risks and hazards exist throughout the stable, arenas, trails, and surrounding property—and many may not be marked or visible.

I understand that no amount of instruction, experience, or caution can eliminate all of these risks, and that participation may result in personal injury, death, property damage, or loss.

Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, and Indemnity Agreement

In consideration of Sunnyridge Equestrian (the “Provider”) and the property owners permitting my child to participate in horseback riding and related activities, including the use of horses, equipment, facilities, and property (collectively referred to as “the Services”), I agree to the following:

Waiver of Claims: I waive any and all claims that I or my child may have now or in the future against the Provider, the property owners, and their directors, officers, employees, agents, representatives, and volunteers (collectively, the “Releasees”), and I release them from all liability for any loss, damage, injury, or expense that I, my child, or our next of kin may suffer while participating in the Services, regardless of cause.

Indemnification: I agree to hold harmless and indemnify the Releasees from any and all liability for damage to property or personal injury to any third party resulting from my child’s participation in these activities or use of the Services.

I confirm that I have read and understood this agreement in full, and that I am not relying on any oral or written statements made by the Releasees that are not explicitly stated in this document.
