I Pledge to Join the Missoula Climate Strike
"I want you to act. I want you to act as you would in a crisis. I want you to act as if the house is on fire, because it is.”
~Greta Thunberg, 16, Swedish activist calling for an international climate strike
As the climate crisis worsens, as frontline communities continue to feel the real-time effects of climate change and fossil fuel extraction, as inaction on climate change increasingly threatens the survival of the human species, Missoulians are joining the international call to strike September 20th-27, 2019. As students, young people, and supporters, we believe it is essential to rise up and do everything within our power to act on climate change. As the Amazon rainforest burns, as scientists warn that we have less than a decade to stop climate change, as sea levels rise, maintaining the status quo is becoming too risky. We refuse to stop fighting for our future.
We demand that politicians, CEOs, and leaders worldwide stop turning their back on our future by siding with a rogue industry whose business plan is incompatible with a just and stable future. We are joining the millions of people around the world who are walking out of work and school to demand climate justice and an end to the age of fossil fuels.
“For way too long the politicians and people in power have got away with not doing anything at all to fight the climate crisis and ecological crisis. But we will make sure that they will not get away with it any longer. We will never stop fighting, we will never stop fighting for this planet, for ourselves, our futures and for the futures of our children and grandchildren.”
Once you sign this pledge, Missoula climate strike organizers will keep in touch with next steps by adding you to the mailing list. Everyone is welcome to take the pledge.
