This one-day event is part of the activities of the National Book Festival in Malta. It explores the traditional relationship between books and literacy within the context of the evolution of publishing – and the ever expanding understanding what literacy means within the modern technological environment and the knowledge economy. How the different novel literacies – digital, media, and visual to name just a few, interplay with the traditional literacy? Are we, the educators, authors, publishers, and librarians, doing our best to support the young generation along this multifaceted literacy world today? Aimed at publishers, librarians, educators, academics and anyone who is enchanted by books and knowledge, the conference will explore these questions bringing together ideas from British and Maltese speakers. The International conference co-organised by the National Book Council, the Department of Library Information and Archive Sciences of the University of Malta, and the Malta Library and Information Association (MaLIA).
