Arete Residential Fund is a charity set up to provide funding for pupils who would benefit from participating on an outdoor education residential trip. It can help fund primary and secondary school children whose families or guardians need financial assistance towards the cost of the trip.

The Trust’s aim is to ensure that the opportunity to experience high quality outdoor education in a residential setting is available to everyone, and that no one is excluded because they can’t afford the course fee. There are real benefits to learning through outdoor adventures that include confidence and character, health and wellbeing, social awareness, environmental knowledge and broaden horizons. We believe these learning outcomes are vital as part of a young persons education.

To receive a bursary for an individual please initially apply using this form, making sure they meet the following criteria:

• Under the age of 18 years old
• The bursary will be used towards an outdoor education residential course they wish to attend in England or Wales. This needs to include adventure activities that are in wild areas and with specific learning points.
• The dates of the course need to be in the first half of the academic year between September to March.
• The pupil meets the government specification to be able to receive ‘free school meals’ for years 3 and above.
