Become an American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard.

Umbrella Aquatic Group's detailed training includes both testing of hands-on skills as well as comprehension on written tests. The certification, which includes First Aid, CPR and AED training, is valid for two years upon completion and is accepted nationwide.

Must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class. Under the age of 18 must have parental consent.

Due to the nature of this course and the job being trained, participants must have the physical ability to complete all tasks including victim extraction from the water.

All participants (including re-certification) must successfully complete the following pre-test:

300 Yard Swim (300 yards of freestyle or breaststroke).

Brick Test: Swim out 20 yards, surface dive 7ft – 10ft deep, retrieve a 10 pound weight from the bottom of the pool, return to the surface, and swim it back 20 yards to the start position. Timed at 1 minute and 40 seconds.

Tread water no arms for 2 minutes.

Regardless of current swim experience (whether year round or avid swimmer), no student is exempt and MUST take the prerequisite swim test.

Class Info
All classes will take place at First Christian Church, Kernersville.

Students MUST participate in ALL course days including online portion (if applicable to the class). Failure to do so will result in class failure.

Students must successfully complete the written and in water assessment at the end of the course in order for a certification to be issued.

It is under the course instructor discretion along with completion of the tests for students to pass. If, for any reason, a student does not meet the requirements or there is another determining factor of failure, the instructor will contact the student and parents to discuss.

Certifications are good for 2 years, and must be renewed within 30 days of expiration. Taking a Lifeguard Re-certification course satisfies the requirements for renewal. If the certification has expired for longer than 30 days, the student MUST retake the entirety of the full certification course.
