ASIS&T Student Chapter Board Self-Nomination Form | Fall 2025
Are you a SJSU iSchool student interested in connecting with other students and faculty among the various iSchool programs (ISDA, MLIS, MARA, and Informatics)? 

SJSU’s Association for Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T) Student Chapter invites you to self-nominate for a leadership role with our Executive Committee. In addition to gaining leadership skills and networking with iSchool students and faculty, you’ll have the opportunity to further explore the technical aspects of diverse disciplines within the realm of Information Science. Such experiences will not only enhance your resume as an inspiring information professional but can also assist in fulfilling competencies for one’s e-Portfolio.

All roles may assist in acquiring evidence for the following competencies:
      
      D - Planning & Management
      H - Current & Emerging Technology  
      M - Leadership & Communication


*Note*: While EC Assistants do not need to be ASIS&T members, all other roles require active ASIS&T membership.

Executive Committee Positions
Vice-Chair
- Presides and records Executive Committee business meetings in the absence of Chair
- Administers the secure password repository
- Creates, updates and records all login credentials
- Performs annual review of existing security credentials with the Chair
- Serves as Google Student Chapter Domain Administrator in the absence of the Secretary

Programming Assistant
- Assists the Programming Director with the following responsibilities: 
  • Plans Student Chapter events
  • Confirms participation of Presenters for events 
  • Coordinates with Communications concerning the scheduling and promotion of events
  • Ensures all events are properly managed, moderated, and recorded
  • Responds to programming inquiries post-event, keeps track of event attendance and records survey responses from event attendees in their appropriate spreadsheets
Social Media Assistant
- Assists the Social Media Director with the following responsibilities: 
  • Publicizes Student Chapter business, news, and events on various social platforms (Discord, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Transforms recordings into MP4 files and uploads to SJSU Scholar Works and the Student Chapter YouTube Channel with standardized event details
  • Disseminates MP4 recording links as they become available
  • Creates bit.ly links for website materials

Executive Committee Assistants (multiple individuals may take on this role)
EC Assistants will shadow one or several EC members & assist in completing tasks & projects.
