NAMI San Mateo County-Smarts for Advocacy Training Workshop

NAMI Smarts for Advocacy is a 4 hour skill-building training that helps individuals affected by mental health conditions and their family members/caregivers turn their passion and lived experience into skillful grassroots advocacy.

A NAMI Smarts workshop engages participants in hands-on learning to build and strengthen skills to engage in issue advocacy. Whether someone is new to advocacy or has years of experience, people will leave the workshop with step-by-step tools and the practice they need to feel ready to make a difference.

The workshop covers four modules. The program begins with the module Telling Your Story, where participants learn how to craft and deliver a compelling narrative that will serve as the foundation for effective issue advocacy. From there, you’ll dive into modules on:

  • Policymaking 101

  • Contacting Your Policymaker

  • Meeting with Your Policymaker

Whether you’re new to advocacy or looking to hone your skills, this training is perfect for all levels. For more details, contact Rocio C Panameno at rocio@namisanmateo.org, or call 650-638-0800.
