How can human animals learn from plant societies?

Join a vibrant working group of people who collaborate in thinking and listening practices to implement dialogue in their work and community life. By living an example, you may change a part of the world! As a member, you'll have the unique opportunity to contribute to the development of dialogical practices and see the direct impact of your work with the community.

ResidenzaLAB is building a community of individuals and artists who resist feeling overwhelmed and want to create dialogical practices. We believe that true progress is a collective effort, requiring us to go to the drawing board together and engage in dialogue. By performing grounded experiments and sharing our learnings, we will develop simple dialogical practice manuals that can be adapted and applied in various situations. 

To inspire brains and hearts we ask: How can human animals learn from plant societies?

Dialogue and collaboration between individuals with different backgrounds are real and active agencies against demarcation lines in our heads, growing wars, and irresponsible acts. Thinking about how plants resolve problems and talking about it for three years will be our contribution to becoming more open-minded, peaceful, and responsible. 

Will you be part of this working group? We are looking for artists interested in plants societies, dialogue settings and participatory arts. Artists who want to add their art practices in writing, drawing, programming, video, sound, photography, multidisciplinary. You will collaborate and leave poetic traces on the territory. We will be happy to know you and to collaborate!

We ask you first:

1. Do you want to participate in a three-year experience by travelling to San Costanzo on the Italian Adriatic Coast, staying there for 10 days every September (starting in 2025), and working with other artists and people living in this region? 

2. Would you be willing to travel climate-friendly to ResidenzaLAB? 

3. Do you have an artistic practice with at least one experience in participatory art/dialogical art practice? 

4. And do you speak 2 of the 3 languages Italiano, English and Deutsch?

If you reply to all questions by saying yes, then feel yourself invited to apply during this open call until August 31st, 2024. You will have our feedback until the end of November 2024. 

We will develop a nomination list and then contact you for a video call. After all conversations, we will choose 4-6 participants. Our final decision will be communicated to you by mid-January 2025. 

Artist Fee 
If you are invited to participate in ResidenzaLAB, you will receive a fee of 700 Euro for your collaboration in every edition. This fee is currently guaranteed for September 2025. We will also provide accommodation, meals, and travel expenses.  
It is our aim to be ready with sufficient funds for the ResidenzaLAB working group by the confirmation date in January 2025.  
Data

Your data items will be held until the end of the decision process. They will not be archived, given, or sold to other organisations. We will ask you to sign our privacy policy if you will be invited to participate in ResidenzaLAB. 

In accordance to Italian legislative decree no. 196 of 2003, we inform you that all data provided will be used exclusively for purposes related to the event.
