Service activities will be geared towards the age of children that register and the number of children per age group. Activities could be: making 'pupp-sicles' with meat broth and other nutrients, making 'Kong' style treats, decorating the outside of the kennels with water based paint, etc. The children will also learn about what animals shelters do and their important function in society.
Parents/guardians are not required to stay with the children the entire time, but some are welcome to join us or do some volunteering on their own level. There will be FCC adults on site at all times. Each child who attends the event will be required to have a signed release form. A link to the form will be emailed to those attending prior to the event. The event is free. However, families are encouraged (but not required) to bring donations to help the animal shelter. Items such as cans/cartons of beef broth, peanut butter, paper towels, old cloth towels. They also accept already made fleece blankets (larger for dogs, smaller for cats) if your family would like to make some ahead of time and bring the day of the event.
There will NOT be interaction with the animals at the shelter (i.e. grooming, bathing, walking, petting). Animals might be seen from a distance or in passing as a group moves from one area to another, but rather the children (especially the younger ones) will spend the bulk of their time in the educational area and the 'kitchen' area.
Once the maximum 20 children are reached, the registration will be closed. Active FCC member families will have priority over non-member families.
*** PLEASE FILL OUT A SEPARATE FORM FOR EACH CHILD PLANNING ON ATTENDING THE EVENT. Thanks!
