Briefly describe your proposed FLC (a short paragraph): the topic, question, or interest area of your group; the kinds of support or projects your group will engage in; the short- and/or long-term goals you have for the group.
Briefly describe your FLC's (likely) participants (a few sentences): Who do you imagine participating? How can they benefit from structured engagement with one another? How and when will you recruit or choose members: do you already have likely members in mind, and/or will you want to recruit more broadly across the university?
CTFE will provide advice and structural support for many different kinds of FLCs; we can provide financial support (facilitator stipends, funding for supplies) to 3-5 Enhanced FLCs each year. Enhanced FLCs must have a year-long plan, and should connect with a key strategic teaching or learning initiative at Mason. What is your goal with your proposed FLC?
I/We want to be considered for an Enhanced FLC, and likely won't go forward without this CTFE funding.
I/We want to be considered for an Enhanced FLC, but we would likely go forward as a community for now even without CTFE funding.
I/We are only planning to meet for a single semester, or we have other reasons to prefer being a regular FLC for now.
Other (please explain in the "Other information" box below)
As FLC facilitator(s), I/we would agree to attend a two-hour workshop either in June or late August to learn strategies for engaging and sustaining a learning community. I/we would agree to submit a brief report on our FLC each semester.
Yes, that seems entirely workable.
That sounds great in theory, but I/we have some concerns about it (please explain below).
Please add any other information, questions, or concerns you would like to share about your proposed FLC.
If your FLC is approved, CTFE will publish information about it on our website, though you will still be able to choose whether it is open or closed to outside participants.
I understand CTFE's policies.
CTFE will contact you about the status of your FLC within four weeks. If you have questions in the meantime, you can email us!
Okay, that sounds good to me.
