5. Abstract
Mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) is a powerful analytical technique that allows systems biology analysis of complex samples, including identification and quantification of proteomes and glycoproteomes. Throughout my research career I have developed and used LC-MS/MS techniques to study how proteins are post-translationally modified by complex glycan structures, and used complementary experimental approaches to understand the consequences of these PTMs on protein function and biology. This has enabled diverse collaborations, and exciting research projects including fundamental protein biochemistry, biopharmaceutical production quality control, viral biology, and beer production.
