Description: Drawing from Chicana feminist knowledge (Anzaldúa, 1987) participants will deepen their understanding about cariño (care) in education and teaching, and discuss their own experiences and practices of care with students, colleagues, families and communities. More specifically, this session will center borderland pedagogies of cariño (Reyes, 2021) and integrated networks of care (Reyes, 2021) to think about how to connect with others in authentic ways that can lead to transformational change in educational spaces. Workshop activities will also engage participants to think about how they can build systems of cariño and support to sustain their own work of educating against the grain.
