Guidelines for Applying to be a Slow Spokes Overnight Volunteer
As an Overnight Volunteer you be able to plan and co-lead Slow Spokes beginner overnights
Requirements
Strong communication skills such as
Excitement for working with many different types of riders of diverse backgrounds, experience levels, comfort levels, and needs
Able to co-lead at least one overnight in the year and be physically present in Missoula during overnight planning
Commits to uphold all Slow Spokes expectations and guidelines as outlined in trainings
Has been bikepacking before
Commits to attending volunteer training dates
March 25 and 26, 6-8 pm - In-person presentation and training
April 17 5pm - April 18 12pm - Training Overnight with volunteers and Leadership Committee (this date is tentative - trainee schedule and weather dependent)
Bonus
- Has been on a Slow Spokes overnight
- Medical training of any sort
- Bike mechanic skills
- Previous experience guiding or leading groups
Guidelines for Slow Spokes General Volunteer
As a General Volunteer you will be able to propose and execute new event ideas, help table on behalf of Slow Spokes, and/or support existing events.
Requirements
- Has been to a Slow Spokes event before
- Commits to attend volunteer training (or to meet up to be trained) (April 7, 6-8 pm)
- Commits to uphold all Slow Spokes expectations and guidelines as outlined in training
- Strong communication skills such as
- Able to provide and receive feedback in a productive manner
- Excitement for working with many diverse backgrounds, experience levels, comfort levels, and needs
- Able to be physically present in Missoula during event planning (~5 weeks leading up to events)
- Approximate time commitment for planning: 4-6 hours over 5 weeks (ex: one to two 2-hour planning meetings, 2 hours asynchronous planning work)
