BMCC in collaboration with Trinity Church Wall Street Philanthropies is proud to announce a new program at BMCC to address the housing needs of students experiencing housing insecurity. BMCC students will be given the opportunity to live at The Towers at the City College of New York, 12 months a year while attending school. These dorm rooms will only be offered to students who are currently enrolled for at least 9 credits.
Some of the eligibility criteria include but may not be limited to:
- Couch surfing
- In a shelter
- DV situation
- Returning from detention (restrictions for CUNY students)
- Unsafe conditions in home or neighborhood (overcrowding, family disputes, unwelcomed for other reasons)
- Eviction imminent
- First degree seeking student
- Family moving into a smaller apartment because rent was raised
