Course Description
In this 3 week case studies course, titled "The Threat Within", students will become “cyber interns” and work in teams using the iQ4 online/cloud-based technology platform.

The "Threat Within" is a fully online course and meets at the designated time for two hours once per week.

The course is led by an iQ4 instructor that is a subject matter expert in cyber security, has both industry and academic experience, and knows the soft skills needed for you to succeed in today’s job market.

The content for the course covers core competencies e.g., knowledge, skills, and abilities relating to the identification, detection, protection against, response to, and recovery from an insider threat including how to build and maintain communications with executives, peers and regulators. In addition, essential skills (e.g., teamwork and communications skills), which are required in the workforce.

The goal is to enable students, through project role profiles, to analyze real case scenarios and identify the depth and breadth of cybersecurity from multiple perspectives. Students will focus on the interrelated dimensions of threats (which may include but are not limited to technical, procedural, legal, behavioral, skills/proficiencies).

Project Role Profiles: During the course, you will have an opportunity to perform one of the following roles on your team: Information Security Officer, Cyber Threat Analyst, Behavioral Analyst, IT Risk Analyst, or Compliance Analyst.

Offered by iQ4, as part of the CyberNYC initiative, to provide college students with a real-life, virtual cybersecurity applied learning experience.

Any student from any major can take this course. There is no pre-requisite.

CyberNYC Initiative: A $30M initiative announced on October 2, 2018, by the New York City Economic Development Council. The goal is to provide CUNY students with accelerated training, skill-sets, and real world experience to enable them to rapidly be infused in the cybersecurity workforce.

This is a no cost, non-credit course and does not appear on your academic transcript.
