All members of the Doula Association of Central Oklahoma Inc. (DACO Inc.) are independent and self-employed. Our members benefits include a variety of support, resources, and education.

Please allow 2-3 business days after submitting your membership application for the further instruction in completing your membership. Whether you are seeking to join DACO Inc. as a doula or as a childbirth professional, we look forward to joining you in your work to improve the birthing community of Oklahoma.

I acknowledge that I will not be listed on the DACO Inc. website until I have successfully attended a Birth or Postpartum Doula training or provide proof of training/certification & I will need to attend a DACO Inc. general meeting.

In exchange, I can expect to receive all listed benefits under the membership information until September 1st of the following year. 1. Rules of Conduct
A. Propriety. The doula should maintain high standards of personal conduct in the capacity or identity as a labor/postpartum support provider. B. Competence and Professional Development. The doula should strive to become and remain proficient in the professional practice and the performance of professional functions through continuing education, affiliation with related organizations, and associations with other Labor/Postpartum Support Providers. C. Integrity. The doula should act in accordance with the highest standards of professional integrity.

2. Ethical Responsibility to Clients
A. Primacy of Client’s Interests. The doula’s primary responsibility is to her clients. B. Rights and Prerogatives of Clients. The doula should make every effort to foster maximum autonomy & ownership on the part of her clients while respecting the choices the family & chosen care provider(s) make. C. Confidentiality and Privacy. The doula should respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained in the course of professional service. D. Obligation to Serve. The doula should assist each client seeking labor support either by providing services or making appropriate referrals. E. Reliability. When the doula agrees to work with a particular client, her obligation is to do so reliably, without fail, for the term of the agreement. F. Fees. When setting fees, the doula should ensure that they are fair, reasonable, considerate, and commensurate with services performed and with due regard for the client's ability to pay. The doula must clearly state her fees to the client, and describe the services provided, terms of payment and refund policies.

3. Ethical Responsibility to Colleagues
A. Respect, Fairness, and Courtesy. The doula should treat colleagues with respect, courtesy, fairness, and good faith. B. Dealing with Colleagues’ Clients. The doula has the responsibility to relate to the clients of colleagues with full professional consideration.

4. Training, Certification and Experience
DACO Inc does not require certification for membership, however, the doula maybe asked to provide proof of training, certification, continuing education and/or experience upon membership.

5. Ethical responsibility to the Community & Profession
A. The doula is encouraged to assist the DONA International vision of “A Doula for Every Woman Who Wants One” by making reduced cost or no cost labor/postpartum support services available when possible. B. Promoting Maternal and Child Welfare. The doula should promote the general health of women and their babies, and whenever possible. C. The doula is encouraged to participate in local community activities & outreach in the betterment of maternal healthcare.

Use of DACO Inc. Trademark and Materials
DACO Inc. has its own wonderful logo and material. However, before you use it anywhere, please ask the Executive Board for permission. With that in mind, here are some basic guidelines about the use of the DACO Inc. Logo: 1. The DACO Inc. logo should not be used for personal profit. 2. The DACO Inc logo should not be used on any item intended for bulk production without express, written permission from the Executive Board. 3. The DACO Inc. logo may be used for the promotion of DACO Inc. meetings and/or DACO Inc. approved workshops 4. Copyright permission is required when reproducing any of DACO Inc materials. If permission is granted for reproduction that material must be reproduced in its entirety.
