> Call / email legislators to request meetings for attendees from your Region. You will be paired with other Captains from your Region with a full breakdown of legislative contacts sent in early 2019.
> Pairing attendees from your region with the correct legislative meeting.
> Making sure attendees understand when and where their scheduled meetings are.
> Helping attendees from your region prep for their legislative meetings by distributing materials, how-tos, and logistical information (all of which is provided by SCAA).
> "Attend" two (2) virtual organizing meetings - Thursday, January 10 @ 1:30pm + Tuesday, February 5 @ 10:30am
REGIONSRegions will be Upstate, Lowcountry, Midlands, and Pee Dee.
Ideally, each Region will have 3-5 Captains. The SCAA will assign legislators to each Captain to contact and schedule meetings.
SCAA staff will try to ensure the Region you are assigned includes the district(s) you reside in, however in the event that we have an imbalance of individuals volunteering from one particular area, and need help in other Regions, we may ask if you are willing to serve as a captain for another Region. You would still be encouraged to attend legislative meetings in your personal county (scheduled by another Captain), but you would help schedule meetings for another region.
LEGISLATIVE MEETINGSCaptains may not have to schedule meetings with all legislators in their Region. The priority will be getting meetings with legislators whose constituents are attending the day's events. Legislators who have no constituents attending may still be scheduled for a meeting, or Captains may opt for a drop-in if time permits, or to simply have attendees drop off materials.
**Captains receive one (1) FREE registration for the Legislative Breakfast and Statehouse Rally.**
More information will be sent to Captains in early 2019.
