2024 TUBERS Application Form
The Tufts University Biomedical Engineering Research Scholars (TUBERS) Program is dedicated to providing unique and rewarding research experiences at Tufts for dedicated high school students who have a strong interest in Biomedical Sciences. Students will be involved in cutting-edge biomedical research, investigating biomedical questions and developing new methods to study cells, tissues and organs. Students will work for ~6 weeks over the summer in the Biomedical Engineering labs at Tufts, learning about a variety of fields of study while learning experimental protocols, making predictions, and testing hypotheses. Students are encouraged to use their projects to participate in local and national science competitions (with PI approval), where they may win honors and college scholarship money.

Please note that per Tufts University Safety Regulations, students must be 16 years of age at the start of the program on July 1st, 2024 in order to participate (no exceptions as this is a University-wide policy).

All application materials are due by April 26th, 2024 and notification of program acceptance will be sent out by May 17th, 2024 at the latest.

1. Please submit an essay (500 words or fewer) on why you want to participate in the program. Feel free to discuss past experiences you have had with scientific research, any relevant extracurricular activities, as well as any particular areas of research interest you may have. 2. List any other extracurricular activities you are currently involved with that are not related to math or science. *
3. List all high school science, math, and engineering courses you have taken as of December 2022. *
4. List any programming languages you know, and your level of proficiency in them. Programming ability is not a requirement for the program, but some internships require knowledge of computer languages. *
In addition to the above, please submit a copy of your transcript with your application, as well as a reference letter from one of your science teachers discussing your aptitude in science and any lab experience that they can speak to. Also, please fill and sign (along with your parent) the commitment pledge/ release on the TUBERS website and turn in with your application.
