Sunday Sessions with Susan   6/21                                                                                          “I Do” Said Drama. “I Do” Said Literature: An Invitation To The Wedding Of Two Powerful Disciplines In ELT                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          
This presentation suggests that marrying Literature with Drama to empower students is a perfect union. Literature, Drama and Empowerment will be defined briefly and then a number of Drama frames will be explained and applied to a short story through experiential, practical activities for the participants to fully understand the process. The changing roles of both teacher and students will be discussed so that standing up the text and breathing life into the written word through using drama activities may empower not only the students by changing their perspectives, but also the teachers by giving them the tools to motivate and inspire a desire to read with deep understanding. The participants will be expected to contribute to the session and will leave with a number of generic strategies to apply in their literature classes with any age at any level and with any ability.
