Gleaning Day Sign Up Form (Kent hub)

Kent Gleaning Network is coordinating the following gleaning dates. We warmly invite you to sign up for these gleaning events in advance and will send out further details in the week running up to each gleaning day.

Additional gleaning days may be added at short notice as we learn of crops across the county in need of rescue.

Wednesday the 14th of August- 3pm onwards: potatoes & leafy veg near Wingham

Wednesday the 21st of August- tba

Monday the 26th of August- tba

We will strive to make as many of these gleaning days as possible family friendly but on occasions when we have to use harvesting knives we may not be unable to accommodate volunteers under the age of 16.

Please note that some of these gleans may be quite small, requiring only a small number of volunteers and priority will be given to those with the shortest journey to the farm.

Volunteers will be sent information regarding the gleaning day (including travel arrangements) in the week leading up to the glean.

Travel Arrangements
We make every effort to support groups in accessing and distributing gleaned produce. If you are unable to travel to the farm we will try to arrange delivery. Alternatively, we can advise you on options for public transport; this allows us to minimise the carbon footprint of the day. Travel expenses can be covered up to £20 per vehicle
Will you be driving to the gleaning day? *
If you are driving, can you offer lifts to others and/ or help deliver produce to organisations in your area? *
Liftsharing is an important part of gleaning; enabling those without a car to attend and reduce our impact. We can cover some travel expenses (mileage allowance at 23p per mile up to £12 per volunteer travelling in the vehicle).
Required
If you are driving and able to offer lifts, how many spaces do you have in your vehicle?
Please note below how many spaces are free (and how many are taken up with volunteers you're already travelling with)
Your answer
Would you be willing to drive a van or minibus to transport volunteers or gleaned produce?
We can cover some travel expenses (please see above and check with us first).
If you or anyone in your group coming to the farm has an allergy or medical condition we should know about, please record it here.
Your answer
Please confirm whether you can make the whole gleaning day. *
Please note, we need to confirm volunteer numbers to ensure we can run the gleaning day. Last-minute cancellations can jeopardise a gleaning day going ahead, so please confirm your availability. If anything changes, please inform us ASAP
Are you happy to have your email address shared with other volunteers on this gleaning day? *
This is used to help coordinate deliveries and other logistics in the run up to the gleaning day
Are you signing up to volunteer with any other friends or family?
