Join the Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal Campaign
Our campaign this year is focused on stoping rollbacks on coal retirements, defending public health standards, and supporting renewable energy.
Current specific goals our movement is working on:
  • Moving Duke Energy, the largest and dirtiest electric provider in our state beyond coal.
  • Holding CenterPoint accountable to keeping their commitment to end coal burning by 2027.
  • Stopping AES Indiana from building a gas plant for an unknown large user (likely a data center).
  • Check out the email in your inbox that will be sent once you complete this form for our current actions and links you can share with others.

Move Duke Beyond Coal Volunteer Team Planning Meeting
When: Recurring meeting time on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday's of the month at 7:00 PM ET
Where: Zoom

The Volunteer Team Planning Meeting aka "Leaders Circle" is where volunteer team leaders gather to fine-tune our activities, discuss overall strategy, plan tactics, and celebrate wins. This meeting is open to volunteers and allied organizational staff/volunteers who are helping to carry out activities across the state such as: making calls to Sierra Club supporters, engaging community members at Sierra Club booths, and other activities.
Upcoming Volunteer Activities
Volunteer to talk to your community about the Beyond Coal Campaign at an upcoming activity.
- We will provide directions in advance.
- We recommend planning to volunteer for 1-2 hour shifts at community events.

Mosey Down Main event description: Mosey Down Main Street in Lafayette has foot traffic of between 6,000-8,000 people. During the Mosey, Sierra Club has a table with handouts and displays with information about our organizational activities. Sierra Club volunteers are stationed at the booth to engage in conversation with people attending the Mosey to share information about our Beyond Coal campaign and how people can take action to advance our mission such as signing a petition or attending an upcoming event. In advance of the event, we provide a script and support to make sure that you feel prepared to speak with Mosey attendees about our organizational activities.

Would you like to see Sierra Club at an event (such as a farmer's market) in your community?

Are there other community engagement activities you'd like to see Sierra Club at? Examples: passing out information in downtown areas, presentations to an organization.

Let us know about any activities you'd like to see a Sierra Club at (we unfortunately cannot do everything but we do our best to incorporate these activities into our plans). Also, please let us of if you would be able to volunteer at this activity.
