About the Event:
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Regional
Office for Asia and the Pacific (FAORAP), World Health Organization (WHO) Southeast
Asia Regional Office (SEARO) and Western Pacific Regional Office (WPRO), and
World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) Regional Representation for Asia
and the Pacific (RRAP) and the Sub-Regional Representation for Southeast Asia (SRR-SEA)
will host a two-day food fair in celebration of the World AMR Awareness Week
(WAAW) 2024. The annual global event is celebrated from 18 to 24 November to raise
awareness of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and encourage action among One
Health stakeholders to tackle the emergence and spread of drug-resistant
pathogens. The theme for the WAAW 2024 is “Educate. Advocate. Act now.” The European
Union (EU) is supporting the food fair financially and technically through its
Tripartite-implemented regional AMR project. The United States Agency for
International Development (USAID) also has some financial and technical
contribution.
