SBA 2024 Annual Meeting (Virtual, September 14, 2024) - Call for Presentations
The Society of Black Archaeologists (SBA) invites all members to submit presentations for our annual meeting, which will be held virtually on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 1:00-4:00PM (Eastern Standard Time).

Following our annual business meeting, SBA members will have the opportunity to present 10 minute papers or multimedia presentations. Submissions from both terrestrial and underwater settings and from all geographical areas will be considered, but we will prioritize submissions addressing Black, African diaspora, and African heritage.

The SBA requests that all submissions be completed using this form by July 30, 2024.

After that time, accepted presenters will be notified and provided with further details.

Paper presentations may focus on theoretical and methodological considerations within archaeology, focus on research currently in progress, and/or discuss the findings of completed studies or projects. Multimedia presentations may include film, poetry, artwork, and other presentation types that are not formal papers.

Submissions from both terrestrial and underwater settings and from all geographical areas will be considered, but we will prioritize submissions addressing Black, African diaspora, and African heritage.

All presentations must be no longer than 10 minutes long, with 5 minutes reserved for Q&A.

Presentations must be presented via Zoom during the SBA Annual Meeting on September 14, 2024. Pre-recorded presentations may be considered in the case of emergencies for accepted presentations only.

The SBA Annual Meeting will be hosted virtually via Zoom. 

You do not need any special software for the annual meeting, beyond an internet browser (Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome, etc) and a free download of Zoom.  You will be automatically prompted to download Zoom when joining the virtual meeting, but we strongly recommending downloading the program prior to day of the event. We ask all presenters to use a computer or a laptop during their presentations.
