Petition: Tell The University of Georgia and the Office of Admissions to endorse the following statement regarding student participation in peaceful protest/school walkouts:
"As the birthplace of public higher education, The University of Georgia stands committed to admitting undergraduate students who are highly qualified, intellectually curious and actively involved in the classroom and community. We strive to create a student body that understands and respects intellectual, social and cultural differences. Universities cease to function without the respectful exchange of ideas. That is why The University of Georgia and the Office of Admissions would like to assure current and prospective students that we fully support their participation in peaceful, lawful protest. Engaging in civil, non-violent discourse will not negatively impact admission to The University of Georgia. The University of Georgia expects that future leaders of the state, the region, the nation and the global community will emerge among its alumni."
This statement is inspired by the University's own "Admissions Philosophy."
