NRW Small Grants Program 2019
Reconciliation Victoria is offering small grants to local reconciliation groups, community groups, early learning centres and schools to assist with the planning of events to celebrate National Reconciliation Week 2019. There are a limited number of Small Grants on offer up to $500.

All NRW events should focus on and incorporate key messages from this year's NRW theme:

'Grounded in Truth: Walk Together with Courage'

This year's theme focuses on building positive race relations, one of the five dimensions of reconciliation necessary to achieve reconciliation (Reconciliation Australia's State of Reconciliation Report 2016).*

To foster positive race relations, the relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the broader community must be grounded in truth. Whether you’re engaging in challenging conversations or unlearning and relearning what you know, this journey requires all of us to walk together with courage.

We encourage community groups, schools and local councils to work together, and in partnership with local Aboriginal groups or organisations, to hold events which strengthen relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people and engage your entire community. Where local councils apply we encourage financial contribution or in-kind support towards the running of events, for example through contributing matching funds.

*Check our website at www.reconciliationvic.org.au or Reconciliation Australia at www.reconciliation.org.au for details re NRW theme.
