Production Leadership Application Spring 2026
Thank you for your interest in Tech Leadership for the Spring Showcase season! This application will be for the following 3 showcases: 

Country Showcase - January 30th - 31st (Fisher Center for the Performing Arts)
Spring Writer's Showcase - February 21st (Johnson Large Theater)
Hip-Hop & R&B Showcase - March 13th - 14th (Curb Event Center)
Best of the Best Showcase - April 9th - 11th (Curb Event Center)

* Role is not available for Spring Writer's Showcase

In addition to being available for all days for show days, you may also be expected to attend Artist Development meetings and/or Shop Prep. Artist Develop meetings are about 3 weeks before the show, and Shop Prep is normally the week of show. More specific times will be communicated after the roles for the semester are decided.

Applicants may be interviewed online on December 3rd
FOH applicants may be selected to meet in person for mix auditions on December 4th

Please read the job descriptions and expectations below:

Production Manager (PM) - Main point of contact for the artists and leads their artist development meetings. Helps in all technical pre-production in coordination with the President of Production (PoP), TDV, and TDS. Leads on site direction for coordinating audio, lighting, LED, and video logistics. Creates all on-site schedules, run of show, and advances for all artists and auxiliary performances. Expected to be available for the entire show length (Preproduction, Load-in, Sound checks, Dress Rehearsals, Show, Load-out), to create all schedules (production schedule, run-of-show, artist development meeting schedule), and properly advance all artist's technical information.

Associate Production Manager (APM) - Work with the Production Manager to communicate with artists and create show documentation. Offer your skillsets and see how you can best be helpful and assist. Take detailed notes during all artist, council, and production meetings. Expected to be available for entire show length (Preproduction, Load-in, Sound checks, Dress Rehearsals, Show, Load-out) and to assist the Production Manager in any way.

Stage Manager (SM)Leads and organizes stage load-in and sound checks with artists and the production team. Coordinates with Production Manager before show to make stage plots for each artist. Organizes stagehands in stage patch, band transitions, and maintains a clean and efficient stage. Expected to be available for entire show length (Preproduction, Load-in, Sound checks, Dress Rehearsals, Show, Load-out), to create clean and clear stage plots to present to Artist at Development Meetings and use during show, to attend shop prep to familiarize yourself with the equipment.  

Showcall - Serves as the coordinator responsible for executing the show precisely. Reviews the Run of Show to develop a detailed cue plan for all production elements including video, audio, lighting, entrances, exits, and MC moments. Onsite, takes thorough rehearsal notes, times transitions, tracks missed cues, ensures overall show coherence, and calls all cues live over the production channel. Expected to be fully engaged throughout all stages of production—pre-production, rehearsals, and live performance—ensures a seamless show. 

FOH Engineer (FOH) - Mixes sound checks, dress rehearsals, and the show in the house for a live audience. Maintains a well-balanced mix, prioritizing the main act (usually the vocalist), and highlighting solos and special moments. Expected to be available for entire show length (Load-in, Sound checks, Dress Rehearsals, Show, Load-out), to attend shop prep to set up your console and to learn the FOH ecosystem, to listen to artist demos before show dates, to virtual soundcheck before show and during show dates. 

LED Designer (LED) - Works with the Show Producer to find LED Content and designs for a show that matches the Producer's and artist's vision. Helps Video Coordinator lead the video team on-site and operates LED Playback during rehearsals and show. Expected to be available for entire show length (Load-in, Sound checks, Dress Rehearsals, Show, Load-out), to stay in contact with the Producer constantly, and to be available for Artist Development Meetings to understands the artist's vision.

Lighting Designer (LD) - Designs the lighting rig, programs for the show, and directs lighting for the show. Works directly with the vendor, producer, and production manager to create a final product that is unique to each show. Expected to be available for the entire show length (Load-in, Sound checks, Dress Rehearsals, Show, Load-out), to program lights in pre-production, to work the the Lighting Coordinator to coordinate a successful show.  

Assistant Lighting Designer (L2) - Assists Lighting Coordinator and Lighting Director in designing lighting rig, programming the show, and is responsible for calling Spotlight cues during Cue to Cue, Dress Rehearsal, and Show. Expected to be available for the entire show length (Load-in, Sound checks, Dress Rehearsals, Show, Load-out), and present while assisting the LD with programming lights in pre-production.
