This is a LakeCities Ballet Theatre production, a separate organization from the Ballet Conservatory, which donates their studio space.
Please direct any questions about auditions to nutcracker@lakecitiesballet.org, or you may leave a message at the Ballet Conservatory by calling (972-317-0194).
Please read and sign this form and fill out the attached application. Be sure to include your e-mail address, as we send all correspondence and audition results via email and at least two phone numbers where you can be reached in case of an emergency during rehearsal.
We ask that parents please complete a separate Nutcracker Volunteer Form to help where you can. Sometimes parents have a skill to contribute that is much needed and saves our non-profit a great amount of money (i.e. sewing, room moms, backstage crew, props, graphic design, music editing etc). If you can become one of the many wonderful parent volunteers who have made this production possible for 36 years, please consider volunteering where you can. We appreciate any assistance you can give. The link for the volunteer form is on our website as well.
Results and first rehearsal schedule will be posted on or before Sunday, September 20th on our website www.lakecitiesballet.org as well as emailed to you. Results will NOT be given out over the phone.
There is a $125 participation fee; $250 per family (max). Fee(s) are due at time of audition. You may pay by cash, check or card. If paying by card there will be a 3% processing fee.
Dancers need to wear black leotard, pink tights and bring pointe shoes if on pointe. Male dancers should wear black tights or leggings, white t-shirt or dance shirt and black shoes or white socks with white ballet shoes. We DO NOT need a head shot like in the years past.
Performance dates: Saturday, Nov. 28th at 7:30PM, and Sunday, Nov. 29th @ 2:00PM at Lake Dallas High School.
Mandatory theater rehearsals/performances are held November 22-29 (no rehearsals on Thanksgiving Day, and there is a daytime rehearsal on Wednesday, Nov 25th) Do not audition if you cannot attend every rehearsal that week—NO ONE WILL BE EXCUSED FROM THEATER REHEARSALS! Dancers who miss any mandatory theater rehearsal will NOT be able to perform, and NO refund of audition fee(s) or ticket purchases will be given.
Many rehearsals and fittings will begin Saturday, September 26th. Be prepared to list any conflicts below, if there are too many conflicts for us to accommodate, we may not be able to cast you. Pointe roles may begin sooner. Check the LBT bulletin board at the studio and your email for current rehearsal schedules. Please print a copy of the rehearsal schedule at home.
You must be available Saturdays 11:30am - 6:00pm. Pointe roles must also be available Tuesday 8:15 – 9:45pm and Thursdays 8:15 - 9:45pm.
Children’s roles typically rehearse only 1-3 hours each week on Saturdays, depending on the role.
You must be 5 years old or older on the audition date or by 9/30/2026.
Any conflicts must be listed on the audition form at the time of the audition, or we will assume you are available to perform any role at any time. Do not audition if you anticipate more than one absence due to conflicts. Please list your conflict(s) but know that we cannot work around every conflict – each dancer is only allowed to miss one studio rehearsal.
The role you are cast in depends on many factors including technical ability, acting ability, costume sizes, height, weight, time conflicts, etc. You will be placed where we most need you - ALL of the parts are important to the story. Consider carefully that you might not get the part you want; we only have one Clara, 12 Angels,16 Snowflakes. If you audition and do not take your part, you will not be welcome to audition for any LBT production in the future, as this would cause a great inconvenience to the cast and may prevent another dancer from getting a certain part.
Verbal or physical abuse towards any member of the cast, staff or any LBT volunteer will result in immediate dismissal of the performer with no refund of fees or ticket money.
Each year the dedicated LBT Board of Directors look for new ways to raise money to support the performance season. More than half of our budget comes from donations, fundraising and grants. If you are part of a company who offers matching donations to non-profit organizations, please let us know so that we may reach out to you or your company regarding volunteer hours or grant applications. Business supporters of LBT have included Exxon Mobil and Pepsico.
