News Reporter Applicant Form
As a news reporter, one should have basic knowledge of AP style and the news format. Experience is not required but preferred. Reporters tasks include live coverage of events, live tweeting, conducting interviews and one-three articles written per week. Reporters should have the ability to take criticism, good communication and social skills, the ability to work under serious deadlines, knowledge of research strategies and passion for the job. As news reporters, we constantly run into stories that go against our own opinions. Being a news writer, one must know how to put those feelings aside and report unbiasedly. Most importantly, accept the fact that every news reporter can learn from their mistakes and grow into better writers.
