The Corps Network's Sign-on Letter in Support of AmeriCorps in Disaster Response and Recovery
Disaster Response and Recovery is a high priority for any community after a disaster strikes. National Service Programs including AmeriCorps and the National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) play a critical role in responding and recovering from disasters and wildfires and are a critical element in addressing mitigation, response, and recovery needs around the country.
With a record 2017 hurricane and wildfire season, and a tumultuous 2018, we want to highlight the importance to our communities and nation of having a trained and deployable disaster and wildfire resource through the AmeriCorps program. To document the support for national service among leaders in the disaster and forestry/wildfire mitigation and response field, The Corps Network has organized a letter of support for professionals in local, county, state and federal emergency management and forestry and wildfire.
Examples of emergency management professionals include field coordinators, response managers, emergency management specialists, etc.
Elected officials need to hear from professionals like you to understand the impact AmeriCorps and NCCC members have in disaster-affected areas across the country. We hope you will add your name to this letter. If you have any questions, please contact Josh Tuohy (
), Government Relations Coordinator at The Corps Network.
