Registration: Soil Biology
DATE: Monday February 17, 2020
TIME: 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
LOCATION: Taghum Hall, 5915 Taghum Hall Rd, Nelson
INSTRUCTOR: Jo Tobias, Root Shoot Soils
DESCRIPTION: Bring soil and compost samples to look at under the microscope in this hands-on, intensive workshop to identify the soil organisms on your farm. The instructor's microscope will be projected, but bring a microscope if you have one or can borrow one. (Contact us for specs on a basic scope).
This workshop is intended for commercial producers with some knowledge of soils. You will learn how to use a microscope as a regular farm tool, what organisms to look for in healthy soils, and ways to enhance their habitat and increase their numbers.
Jo Tobias is a regenerative soils consultant, permaculture practitioner, educator, and owner of RootShoot Soils. She has been training under Dr. Elaine Ingham of Soil Food Web for five years while working directly with farmers to regenerate the life in their soil.
