TYWI New Leadership Application
TYWI is in a period of major revitalization. After COVID. there was a challenge managing the shift back in person, but despite the struggles, we acknowledge the good TYWI has done for the writing community, and hope to continue it with a new approach to our programs. This involves two things: scaling back and prioritizing, and recruiting dedicated visionaries who want to continue advancing a mission of communal support in the writing community.

This application is intentionally broad, but our plan is to currently prioritize three segments of TYWI: our chapters program, beta reading service, and summer camp. After a lot of market research and thought, we decided that this would be the most valuable approach for our members. Positions are open in all of these roles. In these roles, you'll get the opportunity to not just step into a leadership position, but build a program up. This is great for people who have ideas and drive, and are passionate about the impact these programs have had on young writers. We also are looking for people that have a vision for the future. It doesn't have to be big, but it needs to be sustainable.

After the application, we will send out a one interview notification, where we will ask you to prepare a pitch on an improvement or a rebuilding plan you would pursue if you were a leader at TYWI. This interview will not exceed an hour, and details would be sent after.

Being part of TYWI's leadership team offers you a chance to be in a tight nit community of likeminded people who care about the mission of TYWI, and want to see it progress. Leaders at TYWI get full credit, ownership, and agency over their sectors. It is a great way to learn firsthand how to run big projects and nonprofits. This is a voluntary leadership position as we are unable to pay right now.

Why do you want to be a leader for TYWI? *
TYWI is currently going through a period of reconstruction. We are prioritizing our beta reading, chapters, and summer camp. Which of these are you most interested in being involved with as a leader? *
Required
Why? *
What other organization or clubs are you part of (include jobs) *
If you cited being interested in Beta Reading, you will likely be involved in interacting with both clients and volunteers. How would you, if you could design the entire service, change it to where there is a positive client-volunteer relationship, but it is not too strenuous to manage for the directors?
If you cited being interested in Chapters, you would likely be involved in growing and strengthening TYWI's chapters so they can impact their local communities. How would you manage with your Co, Lydia, overseeing the chapters progress and promoting the growth of the chapter's program? *
If you cited being interested in Summer Camp, you would likely be involved in organizing our summer camp. What are your current commitments in the summer, and what would you intend for the structure or purpose of summer camp to be if it was solely your decision? *
We expect TYWI leaders to be self-motivated and passionate about TYWI's mission of cultivating a community-centered approach to writing. How would your friends describe yourself in an environment where you were a leader. *
We completely understand that you have lives and jobs, so by no means do we expect TYWI to be your first priority. However, good communication and prioritizing TYWI as a responsibility are important aspects of our leadership team. How do you demonstrate not only an ability to manage your time, but also prioritize what takes up your time in different periods? *
As with anything in life, it's easy to burn out. We want to ensure the mental wellbeing of our leadership members. How would you prioritize your wellbeing if you a TYWI leader while also being responsible? How would you navigate communicating your needs and confronting difficult situations? *
We will likely hold interviews on a rolling basis. Please list out any preferred date ranges or blackout days. You'll get a week to prepare your pitch. *
Final question :D. As we are reconstructing, there are still some things we are figuring out. Right now, it's almost like we're starting up TYWI from scratch, just with a lot of prior wisdom and support from multiple avenues. What excites you about this phase of TYWI? What worries you? *
