TYWI is in a period of major revitalization. After COVID. there was a challenge managing the shift back in person, but despite the struggles, we acknowledge the good TYWI has done for the writing community, and hope to continue it with a new approach to our programs. This involves two things: scaling back and prioritizing, and recruiting dedicated visionaries who want to continue advancing a mission of communal support in the writing community.
This application is intentionally broad, but our plan is to currently prioritize three segments of TYWI: our chapters program, beta reading service, and summer camp. After a lot of market research and thought, we decided that this would be the most valuable approach for our members. Positions are open in all of these roles. In these roles, you'll get the opportunity to not just step into a leadership position, but build a program up. This is great for people who have ideas and drive, and are passionate about the impact these programs have had on young writers. We also are looking for people that have a vision for the future. It doesn't have to be big, but it needs to be sustainable.
After the application, we will send out a one interview notification, where we will ask you to prepare a pitch on an improvement or a rebuilding plan you would pursue if you were a leader at TYWI. This interview will not exceed an hour, and details would be sent after.
Being part of TYWI's leadership team offers you a chance to be in a tight nit community of likeminded people who care about the mission of TYWI, and want to see it progress. Leaders at TYWI get full credit, ownership, and agency over their sectors. It is a great way to learn firsthand how to run big projects and nonprofits. This is a voluntary leadership position as we are unable to pay right now.
