Focus Group on Occupational Licensing in Kansas City, MO

United WE is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization focused on advancing women’s labor force participation and economic mobility. Through a focus on key leverage points identified in research as critical to expanding opportunity, United WE works to identify and address barriers that impact women’s ability to enter, remain in, and advance within the workforce.

Occupational licensure plays a critical role in many industries, shaping both opportunity and barriers to entry for workers. While occupational licensing and certification can provide clear pathways for women seeking to build and advance their careers, licensing requirements and processes can also create unintended challenges that impact access, advancement, and overall participation in the workforce.

This focus group is designed to gather real-world perspectives on the opportunities and barriers associated with occupational licensing and certification. The insights shared, along with additional efforts to understand licensure-related challenges, will directly inform United WE’s policy priorities and recommendations aimed at improving systems and expanding opportunity.

 A $25 Amazon gift card and lunch will be provided to all attendees.
