Wellness Wednesdays
Wellness Wednesdays, TRC’s new program in Flushing, will provide youth a safer space to meet other youth in the community and share stories and experiences together. We’ll talk about building healthy relationships, caring for mental and emotional wellbeing, intergenerational communication, conflict resolution, stress-management & self-care, and more. Youth will also have space to explore various skills and tools to utilize on their own through intentional arts and dialogue.

This workshop is inclusive to anyone ages 13-21 and will take place Wednesday afternoons (surprise surprise!).

Tammy (she/her), a Chinese American born and raised in Queens who loves to nap, and enjoys coffee and tea equally.

Amy (they/she) is a genderqueer Chinese-American health educator who loves taking deep breaths, working out with a buddy, and talking with young people about their experiences and feelings!

The goal of the Teen Resource Center is to create positive, inclusive, and safer spaces for adolescents and young adults ages 13-21. Since 2003, the TRC has been an integral component of the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center by meeting the needs of underserved Asian American immigrant youth in the New York City Chinatown community. Utilizing a holistic approach in connecting with youth development, the TRC is built upon three core components: (1) One-on-one health education with youth to provide relevant, clinically-accurate information, (2) Programs and events to engage teens with the community and their peers, and (3) Referrals to connect youth with additional health and social resources.

The TRC is a safer space for young folks of any background to learn about their own health, have someone to talk to, or just hang out. You can come in to use a computer, print homework, stay cool/warm, get water, use the bathroom, or say hi. We are always happy to talk to you about anything such as sexuality, stress management, and more!

Wellness Wednesdays takes place at the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center, which is located at 136-26 37th Ave. in Flushing. The entrance to the building is marked by a red awning. The space we use is a conference room adjacent to the waiting area.
