Mandatory OPT Session for F-1/J-1 December 2018 Graduates
The Office of International Education (OIE) will offer OPT (optional practical training) information and application sessions for F-1 and J-1 students at CMU-SV who will be completing their programs this semester. If you are an international student, are graduating at the end of this semester and planning to work in the U.S., then you will need to apply for OPT this semester; it is mandatory that you attend an OPT workshop. OIE cannot schedule individual advising appointments to provide this information, so please plan ahead.
Note: OPT applications can be filed with USCIS 90 days prior to program completion or within the 60 day grace period following program completion. OIE strongly recommends applying before completing your program since applications can take 60 to 90 days to be approved by USCIS.
