Volunteer Application

THANK YOU for your interest in volunteering at the North Florida Wildlife Center! Volunteering here is a meaningful way to stay active, give back, and connect with wildlife and nature.

This opportunity typically requires a commitment of 5-10 hours per week, with a consistent weekly schedule. Students are expected to volunteer approximately 10 hours per week, while working and retired adults are asked to commit to approximately 5 hours per week.

Volunteers should be comfortable working outdoors for extended periods to support a wide range of work at the Wildlife Center, including animal care, diet preparation, habitat maintenance, guest engagement, educational experiences, and other activities.

The cost for onboarding to the volunteer crew is $25, a one-time fee that covers orientation and training.

Volunteering at the North Florida Wildlife Center is a unique and uncommon opportunity. Many wildlife facilities limit hands-on exposure to advanced students or seasoned professionals. At NFWC, we thoughtfully provide meaningful learning opportunities to dedicated individuals — including those with limited prior wildlife experience — who demonstrate responsibility, curiosity, and respect for animal welfare. This level of access is rare and reflects the trust we place in our volunteers, as well as the high standards we expect in return. *
Thank you for applying for this volunteer position. We will reach out soon about the next orientation session for volunteers. If you have any questions before then, please email us at volunteer@northfloridawildlife.org.  *
