Sign-up for University of Colorado Reducing Polarization Dialogues
We are hosting a series of weekly Zoom events, Fridays noon-1pm, which will resume for spring semester on January 15, 2021. The idea is to create a weekly meeting space for folks on campus (students, staff, and faculty, administrators and community members) who are interested in building bridges across ideological and other types of differences.

Our discussions are mostly informal, with loose discussion prompts, but a few may be facilitated dialogues on specific political topics with the help of the CU Dialogues program. In the first week of Fall 2020, for example, we discussed "Where do your perspectives come from?” The idea was to share how our upbringings and experiences have influenced our views, in order to build a foundation of understanding and empathy.

Our hope is that this semi-structured format will allow folks to build foundations of empathy and friendship with each other that will be useful bases upon which to build constructive discourses around some of the more charged issues. We are already seeing that emerge among the participants who have attended so far. Regular participants so far have included faculty and staff, undergraduate and graduate students, plus Regents and other elected officials. We welcome newcomers from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
