First Lego League (FLL) Robotics and Junior First Lego League (JrFLL) - Interest Form, 2019-20
Update: Teams for the 2019 Season have already been formed. Thank you.

STEM will be sponsoring multiple 2019 FLL teams (4-8 students per team in Grades 4-8) for the upcoming 2019-20 CITY SHAPER Challenge (https://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/fll).  All students wishing to be part of a competitive team must enter their interest here. The program will span from early September through the Regional Qualifying Tournament in November. Each team of 4-8 students must have 2 coaches per team (per official FLL rules), so we are looking for lots of parent involvement!

In addition, we will put together Jr FLL teams if there is interest and available coaches. Jr FLL does NOT attend competition, but present their work at local JrFLL exhibits.

Each team will be required to use the engineering design process to compete in the Robot Game and prepare a Science Project about World Class Challenge, and apply FLL Core Values.  Through the Robot Game teams build and program an autonomous robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS technology to score points in 2.5 minute matches on the 2019-20 CITY SHAPER Challenge playing field. Through the Science Project, teams explore an actual problem that today’s scientists and engineers are trying to solve, develop an innovative solution to that problem and share their findings with others, and prepare for judging against the FLL Project rubric. Participating individuals must demonstrate both sportsmanship and teamwork in order to be part of an FLL team.

We will put teams together based on interest and willing co-coaches. Each team will determine their own practice/meeting schedule - most teams meet once a week. Each team will need 2 committed parent volunteers to lead.

Mr Ryan Nelson, 5th Grade Teacher, will provide oversight, support, and aid to all teams - Mr Nelson has been coaching FLL for the past several years.
