God and Church 2014

The God and Church is the 3rd in a series of religious programs recognized by the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Indian Guides and other youth organizations as their official religious award for 6th through 8th grade youth.
The God and Church program will lead young people on a journey. It will be a faith journey with three parts: meeting Jesus, worshiping God, and witnessing and ministering for Christ. Participants will create either a video or a photo album to share what they have learned on their faith journeys. Young people will have the opportunity to work with their pastor or other Christian adult as they study the church's structures and objectives and participate in service projects that will give them a better understanding of the mission of the church.
The program is non-denominational. Through projects, youth will be encouraged to discover their own home congregations for how they worship, witness and minister.
Cost: The course fee for students is $25 and for parent mentors is $10 which covers in course costs, book, the recognition certificate and pin.
Course registrants will also receive this Duty to God patch to wear while they are in the course. The medallion pictured is non-denominational. There may be congregation specific versions available.
We will be holding an introductory meeting in early February 2014. Class meetings times will be determined by participating youth and the counselors. Parents are encouraged to participate as Mentors.
Your counselors are Martin Hansen and Peter Gruenbeck. We will be meeting at the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in Costa Mesa near Fairview/Adams.
