Increase Access to Mass IDs for People Experiencing Homelessness: Organizational Endorsement Form 2024-2025
Access to Mass IDs for people experiencing homelessness is more vital than ever. Join the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless in endorsing the Everyone Needs ID bill: An Act to Provide Identification to Youth and Adults Experiencing Homelessness. Representative Jim O'Day, Representative Kay Khan, and Senator Robyn Kennedy have re-filed this important bill for the 2023-2024 legislative session as House Bill 3388: https://malegislature.gov/Bills/193/H3388, House Bill 3360: https://malegislature.gov/Bills/193/H3360, and Senate Bill 2251: https://malegislature.gov/Bills/193/S2251

On July 27, 2023, Senate Bill 2251 promptly passed the Senate unanimously (for the fourth time!). That version of the Mass ID access bill is now awaiting action in the House Committee on Ways and Means. In April 2024, the Joint Committee on Transportation attached House Bill 3360 to House Bill 3388, and both bills were reported out favorably and referred to the House Committee on Ways and Means, where they currently reside.  MCH is currently leading the call on House Leadership and all State Representatives to take swift action to advance the Senate version of the Mass ID Access bill and its House companions. Let's ensure the bill becomes law this session!
