Potential Union Actions and Activities
With UF trying to unilaterally delete language in our contract through the Board of Trustees, GAU is prepared to act. below is a list of potential actions for GAU to take, or for GAs to help us with. Many of them only work if GAs are united. For instance, we can't and won't plan a Day of Action if GAs are against it. Please take the time and answer honestly on if you would take part in each action if we move forward with it!

For each Large Scale action please rate how likely you are to support and participate in such actions.
Attend a Day of Action- The loudest we can be is through direct action on UF campus. Attendance starts at simply being present, but can also include organizing others to join you, and helping GAU leadership in creating signs for the event.
Join a Work to Rule - A work to rule is a campaign where members work to the contract specifically. If you are contracted for 20 hours a week(.5 FTE), you log that time and stop working once you have met that time. This requires the most buy in of our members, to ensure that it is effective.
Attend State Level legislative meetings - Our parent unions are always looking for ways to get more members in front of legislators and push for improved rights for all workers. This would involve travel to and from Tallahassee, and attending meetings with union representatives and legislators as necessary. The legislative session in Florida will run from January 13th to March 13th, and union representatives will work with your schedule during this time.

Collect signed Interest Cards - While the number of GAs paying dues is below 60%, the state of Florida mandates that we collect signed interest cards from 40% of our membership annually. Signing a card does not sign you up for dues, but expresses that you wish for GAU to continue existing.

Talk to other GAs about paying dues - Help get more GAs signed up as members, helping protect them
Host a coffee hour for GAU in your department/college - Find a room, help communicate with GAs and invite them to join, and GAU will come and speak on current issues and answer any questions!
Join a GAU committee - Apply your skills and join GAU leadership teams! We will train you, and each committee is always looking for new members. More info on the committees is Here.
Table for GAU - Help man a table and talk to GAs as they come up about GAU! Sign up to Volunteer Here
Visit Departments and talk to GAs - Talk to GAs across campus about GAU and answer their questions! We will train you and have you go in pairs!  Sign up to Volunteer Here

Attend education/event preparation GAU events - Every event will need preparation to make it successful! Come join GAU and help us put on the best events possible!
Attend payday parties - We host a payday party every two weeks, with all GAs invited and GAU leadership in attendance and answering questions! Dues paying members get a free drink!
Help organize other GAs to attend GAU events - Talk to other GAs around you and in your department, and coordinate going to GAU events!
Attend the Impasse Board of Trustees(BOT) hearing in person - In person attentance is vital at this hearing, for GAs and everyone connected to UF!
Attend the BOT hearing virtually - Even if you can't be in person, we appreciate every person who stays connected and aware, and attends virtually as well! 
Email the BOT - If GAU hosted an email campaign, this would constitute sending an email to the BOT stating for them to accept the decision of the Special Magistrate, and give GAs a raise!
Sign a petition - If GAU hosted a petition, signing your name onto it, showing your support for higher wages for GAs and protection of our contract.
Share information from social media on your social media - Help GAU share the word, and as we post updates about the impasse proceeding or the actions we are taking, sharing them with your network and other GAs to get them involved and keep everyone in the loop.
Put up a GAU sign on your office/in your department - Similar to "Proud Union Member" yard signs, but for office doors, windows, or on the wall! 
Wear a GAU pin/button/shirt - At no cost to you, helping GAU get the word out and normalize people talking about GAU and what's going on!
Tell non-GAs to join GAU actions - A win for GAs is a win for the University, and the more people involved, whether that be students, faculty, or staff, the better united and stronger we all are!
