Candidates should understand the requirements of the position as noted below:
  • Eligibility: Candidates must be from a SPOA member school photography or yearbook company.
  • Commitment: SPOA's governing board has multiple meetings a year, all of which members of the board are required to attend. Meetings are held virtually, except for the conference (in July this year) and the Leadership Summit (usually in November), which are in person. It will now be up to board members or their companies to pay for their travel.
  • The board's at-large seats have 2-year terms with a limit of 2 terms per person.
  • Responsibilities: The Governing Board member shall serve as the governing body of the Association with full and complete authority, power, and discretion to manage and control the business, affairs, and properties of the Association, to make all decisions regarding those matters, and to perform any and all other acts or activities incident to the management of the Association. Each member of the Governing Board shall assist in the Association’s advocacy efforts by writing letters and emails, making telephone calls, and visiting local, state, and federal policymakers.
