Volunteering with ALYM!
Hey! The Austin Liberation Youth Movement is organizing a protest this Saturday July 11th, calling our city government to end police violence by reallocating APD funds to invest resources in Austin communities.
And we need volunteers!
ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST MEET AT 11AM AT THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE CAPITOL.
Here are the positions we need volunteers for:
Runners - Will be asked to man stations along protest route, at city hall, on Congress, or Capitol. May be asked to transport materials as well.
***You must have expertise/certification to apply for the following***
Marshall - A number of marshals will accompany the march, others will be assigned to the assembly and
some will be assigned to critical points at the demonstration site. Your job is to ensure protestor safety and held the flow of the march.
Medics - Street medics, or action medics, are volunteers with varying degrees of medical training who attend protests and demonstrations to provide medical care such as first aid. Unlike regular emergency medical technicians, who serve with more established institutions, street medics usually operate in a less formal manner and often in support of local volunteer collectives.
Legal Observers - Legal observers are independent from the protest and do not participate as activists. They support protestors by ensuring that cops are not depriving protestors of their rights. Must have gone through legal observation training.
