Training: Maximize SSI/SSDI Benefits for Secure Housing
This training, led by Advocate Caitlin Thomas, LLC, BS, RN, an expert in navigating the SSI/SSDI processes, will provide training on how to support claimants who are homeless in their efforts to obtain Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), including best practices on: working with various Social Security departments; working with providers and schools to medically document a claimant's limitations; assisting claimants recently incarcerated; understanding how substance abuse impacts a claim; how to work with the rule changes for a minor who turns 18; how to manage CDRs (Continuing Disability Reviews) and best practices for appeals.
The training will take place on Thursday, April 16, 9 am - 12 noon, Holyoke Community College, Kittredge Center, Room 301-302.
