Participation in the Energy Efficiency workshop - September 12th Madrid (Spain)
An important element for the sustainability of the fisheries sector is the need to reduce the energy consumption throughout the entire value chain in the fisheries, from the ship to the shop.
The increased focus on energy consumption is also a vital part of the corporate strategy to cut down expenditures in fishing operations and a part of the policy decision making processes to fulfill international obligations like the Gothenburg protocol and the Kyoto-agreement for reducing pollution.
Fishing vessels are a vital part of the fisheries value chain. Thus, in order to make a significant contribution to the future reduction of the energy consumption, important R&D task must be guided towards the fishing vessels. Lets take a dynamic role in the definition of the Horizon 2020 energy efficiency priorities for fishing vessels.
