100 days of remembering Minna: reading together & sharing food

Thank you for your interest in gathering to celebrate and remember Minna through reading, talking and sharing food. This informal event, taking place on Friday, 8 December 2023, will mark around 100 days since her passing. 

There are several ways to participate in the meal and/or reading aloud stream, whether you want to cook up a storm or simply listen. Please share as many or few details as you want below on how you would like to partake and/or contribute.

The reading aloud and other contributions will be streamed  live on {openradio}  https://openradio.in/live from 12h-17h EET followed by a potluck meal at PUBLICS in Sturenkatu 37-41 at 17h-19h

We aim to share the final schedule and any follow up details by email before the Finnish public holiday on Dec 6th and look forward to being together on the 8th.

COME AND READ ALOUD

As part of this gathering, we will be reading aloud and listening together - sharing texts from Minna's library & beyond. The reading aloud will also be live streamed via openradio on https://openradio.in/live from 12h-17h EET on Dec 8th.

Readings will be streamed from Vallila, where Minna's books are currently hosted as a Library-in-residence on their way to being re-homed in a number of publicly accessible collections . You are welcome to choose a passage from one of Minna's books, or bring your own text along to read aloud, in any language or form, for this occasion. Other contributions are also welcome, just let us know below.

To help us keep the schedule organised, please let us know your preferred times for reading and listening in person below. We will send out directions with the confirmed schedule and more options for selecting books online or in person soon.

WANT TO READ FROM MINNA'S LIBRARY?

If you would like to select a title from Minna's library you can view the emerging catalogue here - new titles are being added continuously. You can choose a text you are already familiar with, or just pick one that sounds interesting. You don't have to decide now, you can even pick something uncatalogued on the day! Just let us know that you want to come and read aloud.

We are also looking for people to help with hosting timeslots on the day, helping people get set up with books etc. Let us know if you might be able to help out on the day, or if you would like to come in and help out with a cataloguing session. Thanks!

Can you estimate the duration of your contribution?
Ideally, we are looking for contributions that are approx 2 - 20 minutes long. You can also read more than once if there is space.

POTLUCK MEAL
We would like to finish the day by sharing a pot luck meal together. Minna' incredible cooking and hospitality were a hallmark of any occasion where she gathered people to share ideas; this is a modest opportunity for those of us fed by Minna, to start finding ways to feed each other and to be together. The shared dinner will take place at PUBLICS, Sturenkatu 37-41, 17:00-19:00.

Please, bring whatever food and/or drinks you would like to share, ideally labelled  with dietary restrictions and allergens (labels will also be available at the space). If you already know what you would like to bring, let us know below - this will help us get a better idea of what might still be needed!

If you have the time and energy, we would also be grateful for extra help setting up, packing up, and running things on the day. Afterwards, there will be the option of continuing the conversations at a bar near-by - we will send more information about this soon!
